Who Am I?

God gives us a breakdown of who he is and what he requires – good things to know.

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.  He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation.  Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth.  He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see – kings, kingdoms, rulers and authorities.  Everything has been created through him and for him.  He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together.  Christ is the head of the church, which is his body.  He is the first of all who will rise from the dead, so he is first in everything.  For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and by him God reconciled everything to himself.  He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross.  This includes you who were once so far away from God.  You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions, yet now he has brought you back as his friends.  He has done this through his death on the cross in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.  But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly.  Do not drift away!
Colossians 1:25-23

WHO AM I?

Who has done such mighty deeds, directing the affairs of the human race as each new generation marches by? It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last. I alone am he.
Isaiah 41:4

I am YHVH. That is my name, and my glory I will not give to another, neither my praise to carved idols.
Isaiah 42:8

I am the First and the Last; there is no other God. Who else can tell you what is going to happen in the days ahead? Let them tell you if they can and thus prove their power. Let them do as I have done since ancient times. Do not tremble; do not be afraid. Have I not proclaimed from ages past what my purposes are for you? You are my witnesses – is there any other God? No! There is no other Rock – not one!
Isaiah 44:6-8

I am the Lord; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don’t even know me, so all the world from the east to the west will know there is no other God. I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I, the Lord, do all these things.
Isaiah 45:5-7

Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.
Isaiah 46:10

Time and again I warned you about what was going to happen in the future. Then suddenly I took action, and all my predictions came true.
Isaiah 48:3

CREATOR

Don’t you know that the Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youth will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31

God, the Lord, created the heavens and stretched them out. He created the earth and everything in it. He gives breath and life to everyone in all the world.
Isaiah 42:5

The Lord, your Redeemer and Creator says: I am the Lord who made all things. I alone stretched out the heavens. By myself I made the earth and everything in it. When I speak to the rivers and say, ‘Be dry!’ they will be dry.
Isaiah 44:24,27

I am the one who creates the light and makes the darkness.
Isaiah 45:7

I alone am God, the First and the Last. It was my hand that laid the foundations of the earth. The palm of my right hand spread out the heavens above. I spoke and they came into being.
Isaiah 48:13

Seek him that makes the seven stars and Orion, and turns the shadow of death into the morning, and makes the day dark with night: that calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord [YHVH] is his name. Amos 5:8

The Lord’s home reaches up to the heavens, while its foundation is on the earth. The Lord [YHVH] is his name. Amos 9:6 [The third heaven is the abode of God, the first heaven being that of the clouds, and the second heaven that of the stars.] I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows. 2 Corinthians 12:2

For the Lord is God, and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos.
Isaiah 45:18

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Hebrews 11:3

Ah, Lord God! Behold you have made the heaven and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm, and there is nothing too hard for you.
Jeremiah 21: 17

PROTECTOR

Fear not; for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you; when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; you won’t even smell like smoke. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:1-3

I will be your God throughout your lifetime – until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.
Isaiah 46:4

Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, but I will not forget you. I have engraved you upon the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.
Isaiah 49:15-16

He was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5

See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you.
Exodus 23:20

The righteous pass away; the godly often die before their time. And no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For the godly who die will rest in peace.
Isaiah 57:1

Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4-7

You know what’s required of you – to do what’s right, to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
